Description

Alfie's ideal home

Alfie is a fun-loving 6-year-old Border collie looking for an adult only home. He is an inquisitive boy and enjoys exploring new surroundings with his most favourite people. Whilst out on his adventures Alfie may be a little hesitant meeting new people, but because he is always walked on lead and happily wears a muzzle this does not hamper his enjoyment for life. He is comfortable travelling either on the back seat or in a crate in a car to get to new walking spots.

Alfie would prefer a quiet home without any other pets, so that he can revel in all the attention his new family will want to shower on him! He would also love a secure back garden in order to wow you with his football tricks and new agility skills. He enjoys his training sessions and knows basic commands as well as a few tricks. Alfie was housetrained before coming into the care of Dogs Trust, so with a little bit of training and support from his new owners he should be able to accomplish this again. Once settled into his new home we feel Alfie would be content to be left at home on his own for a couple of hours with the radio playing.

Could you be Alfie's perfect match?

Handsome Alfie walks well on the lead and adores long country walks where he has ample space and can sniff to his heart's content. Eager to work for a tasty treat, Alfie is keen to show off his skills and recently had fun around the agility course. If you are the active but empathetic adopter who can offer Alfie the special home he longs for, please apply. Please be aware that throughout the adoption process, Alfie will require several visits at the centre from his potential adopters to start building that all-important bond.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
