Murphy's ideal home

Murphy is looking for an adult only home with no other pets. He is house trained and can be left alone for about three hours once he's settled in. Ideally he needs a home that is away from busy roads.

Could you be Murphy's perfect match?

Murphy originally arrived at our centre as a young stray, and was quickly rehomed. Like a lot of Collies, he has strong breed traits and would bark at traffic and stare hard at other dogs, and sadly his owner felt they could no longer manage him. Murphy is super bright boy who loves to play, and he'll chase after toys and bring them right back to your hand. He seems a nervous dog by nature and can be worried by people, dogs and traffic. He's much happier in quiet spaces where he's able to relax and ideally his new home wouldn't be by any main roads. Murphy can react towards other dogs if they are barking at him, or close enough to approach him. He is best walked in quiet areas at quieter times if possible, but his adopters should continue to build up his confidence around other dogs, working with our training team. Murphy can also be fearful of people but if properly introduced, he is friendly, Again, adopters should work with our training team to give him the best chance of success in his new home. Murph is still a young dog and has lots to learn, and the potential to be a wonderful companion. By working alongside the team at the centre, his new family should be able to give him the chance he needs to thrive.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
