Description

Toby's ideal home

Toby is a gorgeous 10 year old Collie cross who has an IQ to rival Einstein! Toby would prefer to have someone around for most of the day to help him settle but he is housetrained and could be left for up to 4 hours once he has found his feet. Toby will need positive reinforcement-based training and a hands-off owner who can give him a bit of space. Toby will need direct access to his own secure garden with a 5ft fence. He will need to be kept on lead when in public and wears a muzzle for vet visits, just to be extra safe. He is a really sweet boy and in the right home will make a wonderful companion, he has already stolen a few hearts here at the centre. A quiet home with no one under the age of 16 would be best to ensure he has the right environment to really flourish. He needs to be the only pet in the home and would prefer to walk in quieter areas. He can meet and walk well with other dogs, as long as they are carefully introduced.

Could you be Toby's perfect match?

Toby is a sensitive soul that is looking for a gentle and understanding owner who can help build his confidence. He may be shy initially but once he has a relationship with you, he is super friendly and very affectionate. He greets all of his friends enthusiastically and embraces them daily for a cuddle and a kiss! Toby also loves to play fetch as well as trick training – he has a lot of tricks in his repertoire already but would love to learn more! Having previous experience of owning dogs is a must, rescue experience would be best as he will need some additional training. As an older fella he does have some arthritis but he doesn't let this affect him running and rolling around, and our vet team would happily discuss this with his forever family prior to adoption.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
