Mac's ideal home

Mac needs a home with just adults, no children or other pets. He is used to humping when stressed and we are trying to reduce this behaviour but for the time being he cannot live with children because of it. We have very limited history for him and we cannot guarantee that he is house trained.

Could you be Mac's perfect match?

Mac was handed in to a shelter in Ireland for being useless as a sheepdog! He loves to be with people so being sent away to herd animals was not for him. We don't know much about his life before but he was very stressed when he got here and would hump his handlers almost constantly. We've since been able to stop this completely, but we suspect it may happen when he first goes to his new home, with the change in routine and environment. We ask you to be patient and stay in touch with us as we work through it with you. Mac is a super young dog, just full of potential and very friendly. He likes to says hello to the other dogs but can sometimes come over all Collie and tries to stalk them! He's mostly fine and happily walks with his buddies but due to his sometimes intense Collie behaviours, he's probably best suited to being the only dog at home. Mac just loves people, and being as close to them as possible! We're enjoying seeing him begin to relax and become interested in toys and treats

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
