Description

Martha's ideal home

Martha is a sweet eight-year-old Border Collie looking for a loving home with understanding, patient adult adopters. She is a shy girl who will require potential adopters to come to the centre a few times to build up a bond with her before she goes home. We suspect that Martha has come from a farm background and has not lived in a home before and therefore will need help building confidence with new sounds and situations, and housetraining using positive reward training. She would best suit a quiet home environment and have access to quiet walks. She travels well in the car.

Could you be Martha's perfect match?

Once Martha knows a person, you’ll find her to be affectionate and loving. She enjoys a fuss and snuggles from known people and seeks reassurance. She eats well and likes treats; she has learnt a sit and has been checking out our onsite bungalow to prepare for home-living. Martha loves to go out for walks and have a good sniff of the outdoors. She does not mind walking at a close distance to calm dogs and she prefers her space around some choosing to give them a wide birth. Martha likes soft toys and when she is on her own she likes to play with them.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
