Poppy's ideal home
Originally found as a stray, Poppy is a sensitive young pooch who is yet to realise just how wonderful life can be. Despite this, she is the sweetest, friendliest girl and just needs patient adopters who will slowly open her world when she is ready. It is clear to see that Poppy desperately wants to be brave, and she’s been making some brilliant progress at the centre with her confidence building but will need continued support in her new home. True to her Collie traits, she is very smart and has oodles of energy, so would love to find a family who will work her clever brain with lots of training and herding games. We don’t have any history of Poppy around children, but feel she could live with sensible, secondary-school aged children, who will respect her space and take the time to learn about dog body language. Poppy loves other dogs, and they seem to really boost her confidence, revealing a silly, goofy, and playful side to her character. She would benefit from living with a well-suited, tolerant dog who could show her the ropes, or living with a family who know lots of doggy friends she can meet up with. However, due to her high-prey drive, she is unsuitable to live with any other animal species. A garden of her own is essential, so that she can practice her toilet training, and so that she has a safe space to build confidence in outdoors.
Could you be Poppy's perfect match?
Poppy is a beautiful dog, and the staff who work with her have fallen in love. While she does lack in confidence, she shows off her true endearing, fun-loving character once she feels at ease. She’s a foody lady and is her favourite treats are squeezy cheese and sausage, so offering her some tasty snacks are a great way to initiate a friendship. When a bond has been built, Poppy loves a gentle cuddle, and you may find she looks to you for reassurance when she’s finding life overwhelming. Poppy’s favourite pastimes include playing with likeminded canine chums, walks in peaceful areas, and learning new skills.
