Captain's ideal home

4 year old Captain is now looking for his forever home. He can live in a home with children 14+ as this beautiful boy is nervous of life. A home with another dog would be beneficial ( pending a successful dog mix in the centre) ,as living with another dog would give him the confidence he needs and help him with his sensitive side. His ideal home is a place that is quiet and away from too much traffic, and a secure garden to relax and exercise his mental stimulation .Captain is a very clever collie with so much love to give. He will need a family to visit him multiple times at the centre and our Training Behaviourist team will be on hand to guide you through this process.

Calling all Collie lovers, this boy needs a lot of patience, love and understanding but will reward you with oodles of love. He is nervous of noises and new situations, and be distressed when left ( so building up leaving hours will be essential) Captain can be fearful of some men , so a family who can commit to the multiple meets is also essential. Captain will need to remain on lead when out and about as he is considered a flight risk, any fast movements will spook him. Captain does have typical collie traits so loves to learn new trick, also being of a tasty snack will work as an advantage in his learning games. If you love a Collie then Captain is the dog for you.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
