Milo needs a new home (Border Collie X Dutch Shepherd)

Save advertMilo is just over a year old, full male, microchipped, vaccinations and flea and worm all up to date.
Milo was rehomed to us after being with another family for a week when he was 17 weeks old. Before then, he was on a farm in North Devon for his first 16 weeks.
We have done extensive training with Milo and have now gotten to a good place, but with an unexpected job change, we feel that it is best for Milo if he were to go to a new home filled with lots of love and attention that we will no longer be able to give him.
Milo is a full-on breed, we are asking that anyone interested MUST have knowledge and experience around Border Collies or Dutch Shepherds. Milo is NOT for first-time dog owners (trust us).
Milo has some behavioural issues, stemming from not being socialised properly in his early weeks. We want to be completely honest with this process and hope that people can see that he is still a lovely, cared-for dog who just needs some rules in place and a stable home life.
* Milo is reactive to dogs - we have done a huge amount of training and he can now walk past dogs without lunging, barking, growling BUT this is due to a specific lead and non-aversive tactics which we recommend you honour as it is the only thing that has worked for us.
* Milo can be reactive to children - it would not be suitable for him to be around young children daily.
* Milo can be dominant and overly assertive when playing with other dogs, we feel he would be ok housed with another dog (depending on that breed). He would most likely try to bully a smaller young dog.
* Milos recall is iffy around 'triggers', anyone who knows these breeds will know his prey drive is mega. This is something we have extensively worked on but are still not at the point where he can be off-lead on the beach for example.
* Milo is timid around new people, he is unsure that he can trust you, but once you earn that trust my oh my is he a wonderfully cheeky boy who will do anything for you.
* Milo needs space!! He cannot thrive in a house with a tiny garden, please do not enquire if you do not have sufficient space for this boy to run around.
* He is NOT neutered and we have been told to be careful of this as he can be a nervous boy, something to consider if you would want to neuter him.
* Milo is an incredibly intelligent dog, which makes him susceptible to running rings around you if rules are not in place. He thrives on rules in and around the house (more of this upon enquiry).
The good:
* Milo is in full good health with all vaccinations up to date, flea and worm up to date and microchipped.
* Milo LOVES his food, but he does have a sensitive stomach. He is currently fed raw but also we can recommend a good high-protein dry food brand that he didn't have stomach issues with (reasonably priced and very good quality).
* Milo loves a ball and will do anything you ask for a game of fetch!
* He loves a good neck scratch and some cuddles (he does like his space too) and you will find him curled up on his bed or a fluffy blanket in the evening.
* If you give this boy your time, affection and patience, he will be your best friend forever.
* We have been given an 'action-plan' by a trainer and we are happy to give this to you, we highly recommend following it, it has been so incredibly helpful for us.
Reason for the price. We are happy with price negotiations but do not agree that he should be 'free' as we feel this encourages people who may not REALLY want Milo.
We hope you can see how wonderful this dog really is, we want to stress that this decision has been the hardest of our lives and we are beyond heartbroken that we have to give him up. We want Milo to have the best life possible, if you think you can give him that, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
